Piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca, the Millennium Falcon is transporting diplomatic representatives from a neutral world to Hoth to meet with the leadership of the rebellion. To avoid drawing attention to their secret mission, the Falcon has only a single escort: Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing fighter.
Han and Luke have decided to traverse the dangerous Goatron VI asteroid field in the hopes of evading detection. However, Imperial forces have been alerted to their plans! Four TIE fighters and a TIE interceptor vector in on their position. Can the heroes breakthrough the Imperial cordon and complete their important journey?
After a quick discussion, Han and Luke accelerate towards the enemy. They are hoping that their shields and superior piloting skills will prove sufficient protection as they fly straight past the Imperial ships.
The Imperial pilots converge on their targets. They have been ordered to ignore the fighter, and concentrate all fire on the larger transport ship and its important passengers.
The Falcon’s shields begin to falter as it takes several hits. Luke fires a missile, but it does less damage than he hoped.
A furious dogfight develops. Luke’s ship takes hits too, and he retires briefly while R2D2 repairs the damaged shield emitters.
Pounded by close-range fire from Imperial laser cannons, the Falcon explodes! One of the TIE fighters is destroyed too when it hits an asteroid.
His shields repaired, Luke turns back into the fight. “Use the Force, Luke,” a ghostly voice intones. “I know, dammit,” replies Luke.
After several minutes of frantic dogfighting, Luke finishes off three of the Imperial ships, while yet another is destroyed by debris from the Falcon.
However, none of this can bring back Han, Chewie, the Millennium Falcon, or its cargo of important emissaries. The mission has failed.
